Today’s post is a little different than usual since there will be no motivational “speech.” Instead, I highlight a new start-up: The Three Trebles.
Who are they?
The Three Trebles is a crocheting company owned by members of my family. Their overarching mission is to give back to the community. Specifically, each year, three female relatives will handcraft blankets for people experiencing homelessness in Toronto, Ontario. For 2020, the goal is to make 30 queen-sized blankets. At this point, they have already been in contact with a few shelters, and it’s clear that these products are much needed.
What’s the purpose?
Now you could be asking, why crochet blankets? Based on my family members’ perspective, crocheting is a meaningful process. One blanket alone can take weeks to complete. Unlike factory-made blankets offered in stores, The Three Trebles blankets are created with love, detail, and time. Interestingly, all three of the trebles work full-time in the social service sector as helping professionals. Consequently, they are keenly aware that persons facing homelessness are often seen as invisible in society. Stitching a blanket is a way to tell them that they are not forgotten.
As The Three Trebles expand, their goal is to provide those in need with blankets, toiletries, clothing, or financial support. However, this vision is some time away. To make this a reality, The Three Trebles can make you or your family and friends a blanket for purchase. Maybe you are looking to give your parents something extra special for Christmas. Or your friend is having a new baby so that a little colourful blanket will be memorable. Whatever you have in mind, The Three Trebles can do it.
For clarity, The Three Trebles do not accept large or bulk orders as each blanket takes significant time to make by hand. Orders per month will be capped to five, especially since only 15 of the 30 blankets for the homeless have been completed for winter 2020.
If you are interested in more details, please email them at email@example.com. I have connected my blog to their Instagram account, which you can see on the right side of this page. Below are some more photos, they have shared that are not yet on their Instagram account. Take a look and please share with your networks.
